We explained to students how December is typically a big community month, with lots of gatherings, fundraising, celebrations, etc., but now that we're in January we don't want the sense of community to disappear! Electronics Policy Since returning from break we noticed that many students have some fun new gadgets, including smart watches, cameras, and other toys. Per our Student/Parent Handbook (see page 17), these types of devices are not allowed to be used on campus unless given permission to do so by our staff. All families are invited to join us Thursday, November 21st, from 11:00am - 12:00pm, for a potluck feast at our school. This Thanksgiving Feast has been a tradition at our school for many years. It's a wonderful time to enjoy one anothers company, sit and visit, enjoy a warm meal together growing in friendship and community. We are asking for $5 donations towards the meat and the PTO will provide it. Please bring all HOT dishes warm and ready to serve on the 21st no earlier than 10:45am. Other items can be dropped off earlier if needed, but just a reminder that our oven and refrigerator space are limited, so it would be great to have items come at the time of the feast. Key to Success - Citizenship Our November Key to Success is Citizenship! We talked with students during morning announcements about what it means to be a good citizen. We explained that students can demonstrate this at school by following the rules, being respectful, and doing your part to make the school a better place for everyone. Some examples we discussed were picking up bits of trash around campus and being respectful during the National Anthem in the mornings. Mobile Library On Campus 10/28
The Placer County Library will be bringing their mobile service to our campus on Monday 10/28. Students will have the opportunity to visit the library during the school day to check out materials. Students will need a library card in order to check out books. Please complete an application to receive a card (link here). Once you receive your card, you can leave the "keychain tab" card with your teacher so that your student can check out materials whenever the library is on campus! Halloween/Trick or Treating on 10/31 For those of you who are new to our school or need a refresher, here's how Halloween at Harvest Ridge goes! Students may wear their costumes to school. Please leave all weapon-like parts of their costumes at home and save the blood and gore for the nighttime activities (We still have younger students that can get scared by those things!). They can wear masks for our activities, but not in the classroom. Students still have PE, so they may want to bring a change of clothes for them to participate in. After announcements, we do a little circle parade in the back where the kids walk the playground's outer edges, see their friends, and have fun showing off their costumes. Usually around 10 we head into the town of Newcastle. Parents are welcome to join us and help walk us up to all Newcastle businesses as we trick or treat each one. We gather near the Cheese Shop and take a large group picture, then head back to campus. Please have them bring their trick-or-treat container or bag. Yearbook Photos Have any great pictures from this school year? Our Yearbook team would love to see them! Please share any photos that you have of classroom events, field trips, after school clubs, sports, or anything else school related to help provide content for the 2024/25 yearbook. Click here to share photos for the yearbook. No School on Monday 11/11 Just a reminder that there will be no school and our campus will be closed on Monday 11/11 in observance of Veterans Day. We will reopen/resume school on Tuesday 11/12. Birthday Messages on the Marquee Is it time to celebrate your student's birthday? Would you like to have a special message displayed for your child? Student council will be using this as a fundraiser for the events that we put on for HRCCS students. The cost is $10 for a message. Please use this Google Form to place a request! Venmo Payments Reminder Just a reminder that all payments being made for PTO sponsored school events need to include the Student's Name, Student's Grade, and the Event. Ex: Suzy Q, 5th Grade, Overnight Field Trip This helps ensure that the money going to the PTO Venmo is being applied to the right student for the right purpose. Thank you! |
