No School Tomorrow, 11/10
Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, 11/10, in observance of Veteran's Day. Our campus will be closed.
Thank you to all our veterans and active military for your service to our country.

CHIPs for Kids Toy Drive
Drop off a new, unwrapped toy in the barrel in front of our office at 9050 Old State Hwy. in order to help bring some extra holiday cheer to families in need. We will be collecting toys through December 14th.

Mandarin Fundraiser
Due to a poor mandarin crop, this year's mandarin fundraiser will only feature items from Colwell Ranch and Miller Honey. Be on the lookout for order forms to go home and be posted online next week!
Orders will be due on November 29th and will be delivered on December 7th.
Minimum Days 11/13 - 11/16
Our On Campus Program will be on a Minimum Day Schedule next week from 11/13 to 11/16. All students, including Kindergarten, will be released at Noon.
There will be no hot lunch at school or for take-home this week.

Literati Book Fair 11/6 - 11/9
The Literati Book Fair is next week! We'll be hosting the book fair at our new Home Study Campus located at 925 Kentucky Greens Way, Newcastle, CA 95658. Come check out books for all grade levels from multiple publishers!
You can purchase books right now online by visiting the Literati Online Shop (Note: If the school doesn't pop up on the page, search for Harvest Ridge). Thank you for supporting our school!

Coding Club will be on Tuesdays from 2:45 - 3:45, and is available for all students in grades 3-8. Students will get an introduction to computer programming concepts using Scratch by MIT, problem-solving experience, engineering creativity, and teamwork.

Calendar Feedback Parent Meeting
Harvest Ridge currently has an approved school calendar for this school year and will be looking to approve school calendars for the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 school years at either the November or December board meeting.
There are many nooks and crannies with our school calendar, especially for our On-Campus students, and we'd love to get your feedback/input in order to see what things families appreciate or if there is anything glaring that we should consider changing.
We'll have a meeting at our Hybrid Campus (9050 Old State Hwy, Newcastle 95658) at 5:00 pm on Monday 10/16. This will be open to all families in both our On-Campus and Home Study programs. If you cannot attend the meeting, we'll be sending out a survey to families later that week in order to gain additional feedback.

Parent Square Notifications
ParentSquare has the option to notify you when you want to receive the message, as well as how you'd like to receive the message.
In order to adjust your notification settings, go to "My Account", then click on "Notification Settings."
From there, you have the option to turn on Email, Text, and/or App notifications. You can also adjust the notifications to Instant or Digest. If you set notifications to Instant, you will be notified immediately when something is posted. If you set your notifications to Digest, you will receive all notifications throughout the day sent to you in an update at 6 pm.
Note: Our staff has the ability to override notification preferences and send posts out instantly.

PTO Meeting on 9/11

Come join us Monday morning at 8:45 am to see the latest going on with PTO! The Parent Teacher Organization is a great way to get involved to help raise money for different efforts that benefit our students. PTO will be providing muffins and pastries. See you there!

Back to School Night / On-Campus Students

Our back-to-school night will start at 6:30 pm on September 11th. All parents are encouraged to attend to hear directly from the teachers about the latest, as well as what to expect, for this school year. Teachers will have two separate sessions in case your have multiple students with different teachers. The first session will go from 6:30 - 7:00 pm, and the second session will go from 7:05 - 7:35 pm. We will do our best to end promptly at 7:35 so that our teachers can get home and rest up before class on Tuesday.
Back-to-school night is set up for parents only, so please do not bring your students. This allows the parents and teachers to focus on the information being presented without distractions.

Important Dates Coming Up

September 11th - Mobile Library (On Campus Students) The Placer County Mobile Library will be on campus for students from 1 - 3 pm. The Mobile Library will bring reading materials for students to check out, ranging from reading levels from K - 8, and our classes will take trips to the library throughout the afternoon. Students will need a library card to check out books. If you need a library card, here is an application. (Note: It's a much faster process to bring this to your local Placer County Library than it is for the mobile library to do it). Teachers will keep a card on file for the students (ideally one of the small key ring cards).
September 13th - Treetop Adventure Field Trip (Home Study Students) Spend the morning meeting other HRCCS Home Study families while climbing and soaring through the trees. Arrive at 9:15 am. After harnessing up you will get a brief training, and then be on the course from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. Parents, students, and siblings are welcome to join in the fun! For more information, including how to sign up, visit the Home Study Parent Portal here.
September 14th - Treetop Adventure Field Trip (All Students/On-Campus Students). Join HRCCS for a day of team building and ropes course adventures!
Spend the morning climbing and soaring through the trees from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. The exact start and end times will be slightly staggered by grade level. Parents are welcome to join in the fun! Bring a lunch to picnic afterward. K-4 will be done by 12:00, but you are welcome to stay and play. This is a PTO-organized event, and parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their children. The cost for the K-4 session is $35 for students, $45 for adults.
Students in grades 5-8 will participate in team-building activities from 9:30-11:30 pm. They will return for a picnic lunch and then soar through the trees from 12:30-3:30. The exact start and end times will be slightly staggered by grade level. Parents are welcome to participate in the ropes course portion. The cost for the afternoon session is $45 for both students and adults.

Fall Sports
Harvest Ridge is now partnering with Ophir Elementary School in order to provide a full slate of sports offerings including basketball and volleyball! We are now accepting sign-ups for 7th & 8th grade girls basketball. Practices will be held at Ophir Elementary School on Tuesdays - Fridays at 2:30 (note: we understand that the campus students will need to show up a little late)with the first practice starting on August 24th. The Harvest Ridge Cross Country & Track teams will still operate independently of Ophir. In an effort to dodge the heat, the Cross Country season will start a little later with the first practice occurring during the week of 9/5.
